Forty students from West Islip High School's Distributive Education Club (DECA) participated in the Suffolk County REgional Competition in Selden in January.
The competition consisted of more than 1,800 students across the county.
Senior Zacharey Cerruti took first place in the marketing management category.
Trophy winners included Daniel Madden and Matt Carusillo in Accounting Applications; Arielle Klopsis in Apparel & Accessories Marketing; Paul Cama in Automotive Service Marketing; Andrew Alzmann in Business Finance; Lindsay Ryan, Zach Hurd, and Sean Farrell in Business Service Marketing; Chris Reese and Madeline McElwain in Human Resource Management; Alicia Friscia in Retail
Merchandising; Marc Anthony Minicozzi in Public Speaking Extemporaneous; Olivia Gimplin in Principles of Finance; MaryKate Blochl and Matt Tonn in Principles of Marketing.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Joseph Barbera in Principles of Finance
and Ray Scherer in Marketing Management.
