Brave Olivia shows she's a cut above This is Kent --

A BRAVE Paddock Wood girl has shaved off her locks in tribute to her beloved grandmother.

Olivia Walsh, 13, of Le Temple Road, is deaf and suffers from focal epilepsy.

After a hard year dealing with bullies and having to move schools, Olivia chose to do something positive and raise some money for breast cancer care.

Olivia's mother, Bridgette Walsh, said: "Ever since her grandmother died in 2009 she has been asking to me to do it. We kept putting it off but eventually we decided to let her go for it.

"We checked it over with the school, who said it was fine, and waited until the summer holidays.

"Olivia has been through such a hard time and we're so proud of her for doing such a positive thing."

Olivia went for the big chop at her home on July 27.

Now settled at Skinners Kent Academy, in Tunbridge Wells, the bold teen has raised more than £600, with money still coming in.

Mrs Walsh said: "We've sent Olivia's hair off to the Little Princess Trust, the same charity that Jessie J sent her hair to, and she's really happy with the outcome.

"She's amazed that she managed to raise so much money." Reported by This is 8 hours ago.
