TEENAGER Olivia Davidson-Slack will finally be able to appear in a beauty pageant – a year after being hit by a car days before she was due to take part in the final.

Olivia was knocked out in the accident and suffered bleeding on the brain and concussion.

Her 18-year-old sister Emelia was left fighting for life in intensive care with a broken back and sternum.

Olivia didn't enter the competition because of her injuries but the 15-year-old, of Smallwood, Sandbach, was named Miss Teen Charity after raising £2,200 – one third of the total collected by the 60 competitors.

Now she has been invited back to compete for the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain title on September 30.

The Holmes Chapel Comprehensive pupil has continued fund-raising – boosting her total to about £6,000.

She said she was nervous about the final.

"The accident definitely had an impact on my confidence levels," she said. "But I have very supportive friends and family and they persuaded me to give it a go.

"I am quite nervous and I'm not sure what to expect but we have raised a lot of money for charity this year so the bit I'm really looking forward to is giving it over to them."

Olivia was selected for the competition when she was spotted at the The Clothes Show Live in Birmingham in 2012, aged 14.

She was picked to represent Cheshire East in the Miss Teen UK final and chose to raise money for the Claire House Children's Hospice on The Wirral and Cancer Research UK, by selling sweets and holding fund-raisers.

But seven days before the competition Olivia and Emelia were hit by a car travelling at about 50mph while walking to a garage on the A534.

They were taken to hospital where Emelia remained in intensive care for three days.

Their mum Jaqui said: "There was no way we were going to enter the competition after that so we just submitted the money and started helping Emelia to recover.

"After the accident we became even more determined to raise money for charity.

"We were so lucky, the doctors said it was a miracle neither of the girls were killed.

"We could have been relying on the hospice ourselves."

Now Olivia has been given a second chance at the pageant in the newly created Miss Junior Teen Great Britain category for girls aged 11 to 15.

If she wins she will be given a modelling contract and the chance to appear at events, raising the profile of her chosen charities.

Olivia, who hopes to pursue a career as a midwife, added: "I'm really grateful for the opportunity to compete again.

"The accident was horrible but I think it brought us closer together as a family. I've had a lot of support from my mum especially so I wouldn't be able to do it without her." Reported by This is 21 hours ago.
