Like a 10-year overnight success story, Olivia Colman is the hottest acting talent of the moment.
A double winner at this year's Bafta TV awards for BBC2 Olympics spoof Twenty Twelve and BBC1 drama Accused, she is odds-on favourite to be back there again next year for her role as DS Ellie Miller in ITV crime drama Broadchurch.
A stalwart of British comedy, she was previously best known for supporting roles in comedy shows such as Peep Show, Green Wing and Rev. Her roles in recent Channel 4 drama Run and Paddy Considine's film debut Tyrannosaur were the polar opposite.
But it was the Bafta wins and Broadchurch, co-starring David Tennant and watched by 10 million viewers (and written by another new entry in this year's list, Chris Chibnall), that catapulted Colman into the premier league of acting talent.
"It's slightly scary, that tall poppy syndrome. It could all go wrong. I don't know," she said about her recent success. "It's weird." Reported by guardian.co.uk 16 hours ago.
