THREE sixth form students from Sherborne Girls have been accepted on to a scholarship programme in South Africa.
During the October half term Olivia Turner, India Penny and Emily Williams will spend eight days and nights in the country's Northern Province as part of the Warrior Accelerated Scholarship Programme.
Amanda Mackintosh, external relations and community co-ordinator at Sherborne Girls, said: "The girls will be working 15 hours a day on projects which aim to help overcome their fears, push them to their limits and improve their self-understanding.
"Physically and mentally, it is a strenuous programme and not for the faint-hearted, but we know from experience that it is often the catalyst for unleashing potential in those who participate."
The school, which has supported the project for five years, provides each candidate with a £300 scholarship.
The girls, who will take part with students from five other independent schools, will work with young children at a day centre and learn about conservation and wildlife issues.
Night navigation, scuba diving, abseiling and sky diving are among the adventure activities the students will take part in. Reported by This is 7 hours ago.
