WOOLACOMBE Bay Holiday Parks emerged from another tight match with victory in the North Devon Netball League last night.
After last week's 38-36 triumph over Carol Anne Sapphires, this time they beat Pat Williams Girls 35-32 in Division One.
On a week of extremely close matches, Woolacombe maintained their fine form with Mary Foster's intense defending and Charlotte Jeffery's calming influence in attack helping them through.
They just held on to the lead despite Emma Sloan's persistent good form for Pat Williams.
Lauren Bawden led Titans Neptune to a convincing victory over Carol Anne Trolls. They started slowly but picked up the pace and Lauren consistently netted the goals.
In Division Two, Carol Anne Rubies and Instant Images Embroidery could not be separated in a 37-37 draw. Both teams tried to take the initiative but the opposition always pegged them back. Sophie Cloake and Cheryl Manning were once again outstanding.
Carol Anne Quartz found their form against a depleted Langtree Re-Unites Reckers. Lauren Huggins and Ellie-May Turner worked the ball carefully down the court and Lucy Gill created space and shot accurately to gain the player of the match plaudit.
Carol Anne Topaz gave Coodes Cougars a tough match but they could not quite secure the victory. The experienced partnership of Chris Southern and Lyn Hobbs proved too difficult to break, although Rosie Polak and Lindsey Napier teamed up well in Topaz's shooting circle.
Langtree Re-Unites Raiders continued their unbeaten record in Division Four although they faced their toughest test so far. Langtree started well taking a considerable lead by half time. However, North Devon Homes Stars, fought back, winning the third quarter 10-1 with great defending from Toni Chubb.
In the final quarter Stars continued to apply pressure and closed the gap to only two goals. Langtree then found another gear with great interceptions from Olivia Phillips, moving clear to win 30-22.
Venners Bakery Pythons secured their first victory, just pipping club-mates Jumping Japs by two goals. Shooters Georgina Allin and Jemma Willoughby were acknowledged for their great movement and accuracy.
Kellyanne Brand is impressing in her new position as goal defence as she was once again Gater's key player in their 35-26 defeat of Hartland Harriers.
