The Kumars returned to Sky1 eight years after the show was dropped by BBC2 with 370,000 viewers.
With a more succinct title (previously The Kumars at No 42), the comedy chatshow starring Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal and Vincent Ebrahim had a 1.7% share of the audience between 9pm and 10pm.
Guests included Daniel Radcliffe, Olivia Colman and Chevy Chase for the show's return, in which the Kumars have fallen on hard times and now live above the father's Hounslow gift shop.
The Kumars at No 42 ran for 53 episodes on BBC2 between 2001 to 2006.

Channel 4's 24 Hours in A&E had 2.6 million viewers, a 10.4% share, for the second episode of its fifth series between 9pm and 10pm.
It was narrowly ahead of Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother, which was watched by 2.5 million viewers (10.4%) between 9pm and 10.30pm.
Other competition included BBC1's Waterloo Road (8.30pm: 3.3 million/14.4%) and Live at the Apollo (9.30pm: 2.2 million/9.8%), ITV's FA Cup third round replay featuring Manchester City's 5-0 win against Blackburn (3.3 million/14.7%) and BBC2's Wild Brazil (2 million/9.1%).
Earlier, BBC2's The Great Sport Relief Bake Off continued strongly in the 8pm hour, averaging 4.3 million and 18.5%.
Elsewhere, BBC4's new series, Hidden Histories: Britain's Oldest Family Businesses began with 717,000 viewers, a 3.2% share, between 9pm and 10pm.
