This is Somerset -- Competing for the top drama trophy at the National Television Awards tonight are Broadchurch, filmed in the West Country, alongside Downton Abbey, created by Dorset-based Julian Fellows, Doctor Who – on a high from its 50th anniversary celebrations and well-watched Christmas edition and Call The Midwife. Broadchurch, set in a Dorset coastal town, is up for further honours with both its stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman up for the newly-introduced best TV detective award, along with Idris Elba for Luther, Bradley Walsh for Law and Order: UK, Scott And Bailey's Suranne Jones and Benedict Cumberbatch for Sherlock. Cumberbatch is in the list despite no new editions of the show being screened during the qualifying period, but ceremony bosses say they included it because repeats had proved popular with viewers. Coronation Street's Julie Hesmondhalgh is shortlisted for best serial drama performance, only days after her last scenes as terminally-ill Hayley Cropper were broadcast, along with on-screen husband David Neilson. Also nominated is their Coronation Street co-star Michelle Keegan and EastEnders Jessie Wallace. A varied collection of shows competes for best factual entertainment – with The Great British Bake Off against Top Gear, An Idiot Abroad and Paul O'Grady: For The Love Of Dogs up for the award. Strictly Come Dancing goes up against The X Factor once more for best talent show, along with Britain's Got Talent, Dancing On Ice and The Voice. EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are up for the best soap prize. It could be thirteenth time lucky for Ant and Dec when the Geordie duo find out if they have won the best entertainment presenter prize again. The pair, who have picked up the award for the last 12 years, are also up for the best entertainment programme prize with two nominations in the category. Their show Saturday Night Takeaway is competing against I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! – which they also present, Celebrity Juice and The Graham Norton Show. Other contenders for best entertainment presenter are Dermot O'Leary, the host of the awards show staged at London's O2 Arena and broadcast by ITV, together with Keith Lemon, Alan Carr and Graham Norton.
