Framingham High, Marian High Qualify for Semifinals in State Drama Festival

Framingham High, Marian High Qualify for Semifinals in State Drama Festival Patch Framingham, MA --

Congrats to Framingham and Marian high schools for qualifying for the semifinals in the Massachusetts State Drama Festival.

Framingham High School Drama Company's performance of Dark of the Moon Saturday morning at Sharon High School earned them a spot in the semifinals.

Marian High performed Dog Sees God at Attleboro High School Saturday to earn its spot in the semifinal round.

Yesterday, March 2, 14 high schools hosted more than 100 drama companies in the preliminary round. Three schools from each of the 14 venues qualified for the semifinals.

Framingham High is one of the hosting venues for the semifinal rounds, which will take place Saturday March 9. Schedule for who will perform and what time was not available when this was published.

Dark of the Moon is set in the Appalachian Mountains. The play is a mythical tale of a witch boy, who becomes human after falling in love with a human girl named Barbara Allen. The play is based on a folk song - The Ballad of Barbara Allen. The play raises several moral issues, while telling the tale of star-crossed lovers. Students Connor Fallon and Olivia Wiles have the lead roles of John and Barbara.

Framingham High School also received three awards during the preliminary round of the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild's Drama Festival.

· Excellence in acting awards were given to Framingham High students  Fallon and Wiles.
· Excellence in set design was awarded to Framingham High students Mikey Russo and Jason Camiel. Reported by Patch 6 hours ago.
