This is Bath -- Team Bath Buccaneers' under-16 girls booked their place in the national finals of the EH Cup for the second year running with a win and two draws over the weekend. They opened the regional round with a well-earned 1-1 draw against Havant, Ellie Lyne sweeping home a deserved equaliser from close-range following the breakdown of a penalty corner. She also scored twice at the end of a frustrating first half against Ashmoor to set up an ultimately convincing 7-0 win, with Gabriella Chapman (2), Lizzie Mayo and Holly Jackson also on the scoresheet. That meant Buccs needed a win against Wycombe to progress and they did so thanks to their performance of the season, capped by an emphatic Lyne finish from a superb move involving Olivia Allin, Susie Barnes and Holly Jackson. Eliza Matthews, Connie Redman and Katie Holdoway worked tirelessly to protect the clean sheet, with keeper Nicole New producing an outstanding reflex save five minutes from time to ensure it finished 1-0. Buccs will be going for national glory in Wakefield next month. Meanwhile, all four of Buccs' mini hockey teams enjoyed successful days at the Avon Cup on Sunday as they qualified for the West Finals, to take place at Millfield School. The under-12 girls won their event and the boys were runners-up to reach the finals on Sunday, March 24, while both un der-10 team were victorious as they progressed to the trophy match on Saturday, April 27.
