Olivia Chow may battle Rob Ford to be the next mayor of Toronto.In a slight shift from her usual talking points on the subject, Chow said Wednesday she is “considering it” while on the George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight show on CBC.
The NDP MP for Trinity-Spadina was on the show to discuss the new Jack Layton biopic, but Stroumboulopoulos snuck in a question about her possible run for mayor.
“This is the big talk,” he said, “at some point that this is what you’re going to do.”
Chow’s response rehashed her go-to lines about “listening” to people.
“I love this city. I love to come home to Toronto, but what I'm going to be doing, I don't know yet. I'm listening to people's advice.
“There are a lot of issues we need to tackle, and I'll listen very carefully,” she said, adding maybe she’ll even ask Stroumboulopoulos for advice. “There are a lot of issues we need to tackle and I’ll listen very carefully.”
The two shared some laughs, and Chow continued.
“Jack wanted to be a mayor, maybe I want to be a mayor, too, but maybe not. Perhaps I won’t be able to do it.”
Stroumboulopoulos saw his chance to jump in and asked: “But you’re open to it?”
