Today, women make up more than half of the U.S. workforce and are 33 percent more likely to graduate college. But they hold just 25 percent of the jobs in technical or computing fields.

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 04, 2015

Mediaplanet is proud to announce the launch of its first edition of “Women in Tech,” inspiring potential and current tech professionals to address the lack of diversity in technology.

“At Google, women make up 30 percent of the company's overall workforce, but hold only 17 percent of the company’s tech jobs. At Facebook, 15 percent of tech roles are staffed by women. At Twitter, it’s a laughable 10 percent,” says Founder and Chairwoman of Women in Tech International, Carolyn Leighton. The campaign aims to inspire change on this industry through insightful testimonials highlighting the companies evolving this era and hiring the next great women tech professionals, and by educating readers of supporting STEM Education for young women.

The print component of “Women in Tech” is distributed within the weekend edition of the San Francisco Chronicle, with a circulation of approximately 173,000 copies and an estimated readership of 500,000. Its digital component was distributed nationally, through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. “There are expected to be 1.4 million jobs available in computing fields by 2020, but women educated in America are on pace to fill just three percent of them,” says Reshma Saujani, CEO of Girls Who Code. This campaign offers advice and insight to young girls looking to break into technology from women leaders in the industry so they are encouraged to close this gap.

This campaign was made possible with the support of Lori Greiner, Getty Images, Expedia, Girls Who Code, Bloomberg, GE, Coding Dojo, Thomson Reuters, Akamai, Moo Inc., Society of Women Engineers, San Jose State University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, University of Notre Dame, Dice Inc., Saint Mary’s University, Yahoo!, Olivia Munn and TechWeek.
