This is Devon --TORBAY and South West of England Festival of Performing Arts is in full swing.
Now in its 73rd year, the event at the Palace Theatre in Palace Avenue, Paignton, is under the watchful eye of adjudicator Yasmin Taylor Hazzard, a graduate of Ballet Rambert.
The stage dance sections opened the 10 day festival from April 1.
A spokesman said: "During the first day of the Festival Yasmin gave helpful advice and comments and during the duets and trios noted the dancers working well together, with good connection, gorgeous arrangements and good attack and vitality making them most enjoyable to watch.
"The lyrical dancers gave the audience expression and feeling with lovely music and the classical Greek dance had lovely dance quality.
"The modern group section had great ideas with creative and original work which was a pleasure to watch. The dancers in the ballet section showed musicality and in the Tap personalities shone through with fabulous feet."

Torbay & South West of England Festival – Palace Theatre, Paignton. First Day – Monday 1 April 2013 Torbay & South West of England Festival of performing Arts at the Palace Theatre, Paignton is in its 73rd year and welcomes Miss Yasmin Taylor Hazzard, a graduate of Ballet Rambert, as adjudicator for the 10 days of Stage Dance Sections which opened the festival on Monday 1st April. Yasmin trained at the Royal Ballet School (TTC) graduating with a special prize from Dame Ninette de Valois in 1991. Following graduation Yasmin studied with Ballet Rambert. She worked with the National Youth Ballet as an assistant choreographer in their production of the Dolls House at Sadlers Wells Theatre. She then went on to dance with Dutch National Ballet in their tour of Romeo and Juliet. Yasmin is the principal of a successful dance school in Hampshire and many of her ex-pupils are currently pursuing professional careers in dance. Yasmin also runs Greek workshops and choreographic competitions in the Hampshire area. She is a British Federation Adjudicator and is on the panel of The All England Dance Competition. Yasmin lives in Warsash, on the River Hamble, with her husband and two lovely boys. Yasmin very much looks forward to adjudicating at Torbay Dance Festival and wishes Good Luck to all the Competitors.
