Patch Beachwood, OH --
Four teams from Beachwood Schools -- one from Hilltop Elementary School and two from Beachwood Middle School -- have earned a spot at the global Destination ImagiNation Tournament, according to the district's web site.
These three teams all finished in first through fourth place in their competitions for their respective age divisions at the state competition earlier this month at Mount Vernon.
Before that, they also had to finish in first place in their competitions for their respective age divisions at the regional tournament at Chagrin Falls High School.
Destination Imagination is an educational program in which teams of students solve open-ended challenges in discipline as far flung as theater, construction and community service. The teams then present their solutions at tournaments.
In addition to having fun, the students learn how to think critically and creatively, as well how to work in teams and resolve conflicts.

The three teams that qualified for the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals at the University of Tennessee in May are:
· The seventh grade team of Olivia Adelman, Abbey Brewer, Gaby Rodriguez, Lily Steiger and Morgan Tucker who competed in the event In Disguise. They scored first overall at the regionals competition and at states. They are coached by parents Laura Adelman and Maria Anzola.
· The eighth grade team of Andie Cohen, Julia Warner, Sean Waxman-Lenz, Jason Wu and Yuke Zheng who competed in Wind Visible. They ranked third at states and were coached by Michael Waxman-Lenz.
· The fifth grade team of Richard Han, Erika Jung, Isaac Kantarovich, Bridget Lee, Shira Malul and Nikhil Murali who competed in In the Zone. They were coached by parents Gali Malul and Gene Jung. They scored fourth at states and, usually, fourth place teams do not have the opportunity to compete at states. But another team is unable to compete at states so the Bison will advance.
The Wind Visible team of Lauren Clar, Emily Isaacson, Sanjana Murthy and Linda Yu also advanced to the state competition by winning first place at regionals. However, they did not make it to the global competition. Reported by Patch 3 hours ago.
