JUBILANT students at Queen Elizabeth School and Sports College in Atherstone are celebrating a fantastic set of results, which not only bucked national trends, but also marked a huge rise in improvement at the school.
"On all performance measures the school has improved significantly, with the Government's measure of five passes including English and maths showing a staggering 11 per cent improvement and moving beyond 50 per cent for the first time to 52.2 per cent," said headteacher Tony Wilmot.
"We expect a lot from our students and through their hard work and good quality teaching we have shown just what can be achieved with this exceptional performance.
"I am elated that virtually all students have gained the grades they needed to move on to their chosen paths.
He added: "The students and staff deserve huge credit for achieving by far the best results ever seen at this school.
"I want to congratulate all our students on their achievements and for making the results day such a joyous and celebratory occasion."
And with a brand new school building well into the planning stage, the future looks bright for the Atherstone school.
