STUDENTS at Wilnecote High School have celebrated another successful GCSE year, against a national decline in the proportion of top grades.
Results in the core subjects of English, maths and science all improved on last year and more than half the students achieved the national benchmark of 5A*-C grades including English and maths.
The school was particularly pleased with its science results – 76 per cent of which were at grade C or above.
Special mention was made of a number of students, including top performers Jessica Wallbank, with 8A*s and 4As and William Miller (7A*, 5A), as well as high achievers Kathryn Adams, Hollie Eustace, Chloe Griffiths, Jake Hawker, Shelley Hayward, Ella Hepburn, Matthew Hollis, Charlotte Mawby, Amy Peebles, Dominic Rowley, Rebecca Sheldon, Joe Thoroughgood and James Timmins, who all received at least 6A* or A grades.
Headteacher, Stuart Tonks, said: "As always we are very proud of our young people's achievements. The results are a reward for their hard work, diligence and ability. I am particularly proud of the fact that every single one of the 215 students in the year achieved at least five GCSE or GCSE equivalent qualifications.
"I would like to thank all students, parents and staff for their continued support and hard work."
