Patch Visits St. Louis School's Newsroom Patch Ellicott City, MD --

Good news! Kids are still interested in newspapers. Patch visited St. Louis School in Clarksville to talk about reporting and writing with the staff of the school's paper, The Knightly News. While there, the staff interviewed one of their staff members and, with a little help from their guest editor (me), put together this profile:

Olivia Docal has a bright future ahead of her – though she’s not exactly sure what it will look like. One thing is certain; her family will play a big role in whatever she does.

Food is important to Olivia. Luckily, her family comes from a tradition of cooking.

For Christmas, Olivia’s family – with Cuban, Spanish and Irish roots – made a traditional Cuban meal of pork with black beans and rice.

“I like all food,” she said with a smile.

Olivia’s family also has influenced her academic aspirations. She wants to attend Our Lady of Good Council for high school. One of her sisters is currently a student there, another sister has graduated from Our Lady and her dad was a high school student there, “Back in the day,” she said, laughing.

Olivia also has a little brother – she said she gets along with all of her siblings, especially the little one.

An eighth grade student at St. Louis School, where she is the editor of the Knightly News newspaper, Olivia is a “great writer,” said Zulma Whiteford, who runs the newspaper program.

Olivia started with the newspaper last year when it began because she likes to write. She also likes sports – she has played lacrosse since she was little – and music, her favorite band is One Direction. She doesn’t know if she wants to write for a newspaper when she gets older.

When she gets to high school, Olivia said, rather than do the same thing she’s been doing at St. Louis School, “I’ll probably open a new chapter in my life.”  Reported by Patch 2 days ago.

Friendship Drama Continues on 'Jerseylicious'

Friendship Drama Continues on 'Jerseylicious' Patch Bridgewater, NJ --

The Gatsby Salon made a small appearance in Monday's episode of "Jerseylicious" when Anthony Lombardi visited the business for some advice on new hair dryers.

Still, most of the drama continued to center around the friendship/enemy triangle of Tracey DiMarco, Gigi Liscio and former Montville High School graduate Olivia Blois Sharpe.

All three spent much of the episode trying to decide who was a friend, who was an enemy and who was talking bad about who else. Not much was resolved, and the drama is expected to continue in next week's episode.

But DiMarco did sit down with Sharpe for a heart-to-heart about her relationship with Liscio, and, for once, the conversation did not desolve into petty fights. And DiMarco decided she might have found an ally.

"After meeting and speaking with Olivia, I saw something in her that I've never seen: a nice, honest, stand-up girl," she said in the blogs on the show's website. "No matter how she felt about me, Olivia was someone who wanted justice and stuck up for me. It really did soften my heart towards her. I could see a potential change in our relationship."

Aside from this, Lombardi headed over to visit with Gayle Giacomo, Bridgewater resident and owner of the Gatsby, because he had questions about some of the new equipment she was using. Although it angered his business partner, Cathy Giove, he headed over to Green Brook to get some information on hanging hair dryers, which he later decided he wanted to try and install in his own studio.

"Jerseylicious" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on the Style Network. Reported by Patch 1 day ago.

OK! Look of the Day: Victoria Justice's Floral Dress at the alice + olivia Presentation Victoria Justice looked so chic at the Alice + Olivia Fall 2013 presentation in New York City last night! The star said designer Stacey Bendet wanted her to wear this black and white floral peplum dress with back cut-outs and we think it was a fashion home run! Plus, her Pretty Polly black seam tights were a must-have in the cold rainy weather.

OK! Look of the Day: Victoria Justice is Pretty in Paisley

On the red carpet we caught up with Vic, who told me she did her own makeup for the night. UM if the girl ever gets tired of singing and acting she could definitely have a career as a makeup artist! Her bright red lip and gold eye with black wingtip liner was gorgeous.

This is Bath -- Team Bath Buccs under-16s girls confirmed their place in next month's regional round of the England Hockey Cup with a resounding 6-0 triumph at Devizes on Sunday. Lizzie Mayo opened the scoring for Buccs before Susie Barnes squared the ball for Olivia Allin to double their lead at the break. Eliza Matthews' delicious 50-yard pass gave Holly Jackson the chance to finish coolly and Barnes added the third before a brace from emergency forward Jenni Pitchford-Pecchi rounded off the win. Buccs' under-14s A suffered defeats to Bournemouth and Havant in testing conditions in Portsmouth. Maddie Matthews' goal gave Buccs some hope in a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth but they were well beaten by Havant, going down 6-1 despite taking the lead through Olivia Selvey. The B team fared much better at home to Cheltenham and Reading, picking up a 2-1 win and a 2-2 draw respectively to delight manager Rowan Overeynder. Reported by This is 6 hours ago.

'Scandal' Star Teases Strip Down

Get ready for some sexy spoilers, "Scandal" fans.

Bellamy Young, who plays First Lady Mellie Grant on the ABC political drama, stopped by HuffPost Live this week and chatted about what viewers will -- and won't -- see on "Scandal."

"I know, personally, you'll see a lot more of me than you've ever seen before," Young said, gesturing that she'd be appearing sans clothes. "I've never done that before!"

When asked how she approached the scene, Young said with a laugh, "With trepidation and faith ... Honestly, I'm surrounded by the best people in the world. I think if I were going to do that in any other situation, it really, really could've been a nail-biter."

But what was she most nervous about? Telling her mother.

In January, Darby Stanchfield (who plays Abby Whelan on "Scandal") teased some nudity to E! Online. "For the 'Scandal' fanatics, it's kind of a little quiz: One of us has been naked in a past episode, one of us is going to be naked really soon and one of us a little bit down the road!"

Check out the full episode description from this week's "Scandal," titled "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot."

After discovering the truth behind defiance, Fitz is still struggling to figure out whom he can actually trust. Meanwhile Olivia is trying to move on with her life, and she meets a handsome stranger, Jake Weston (Scott Foley), who sparks her interest. But when Fitz and Olivia are forced to be in the same room again, real sparks fly and things get heated. Back at Pope & Associates, the team handles a new case, and for the first time they're working with David Rosen instead of against him.

"Scandal" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC. Reported by Huffington Post 1 day ago.

Plymouth burglar scared off by rabbit

Plymouth burglar scared off by rabbit This is Plymouth --

A FAMILY has told how their huge pet rabbit scared off a burglar - by thumping its massive feet on the floor.

Two-year-old Toby had only been a with the May family for a couple of weeks when their house was broken into. His owners believe that the burglar was scared off thanks to the British Giant stomping his feet on his indoor cage.

However thieves still made off with items from the family's home including a WWI medal and invitations and gifts for the couples upcoming wedding.

Kimberley May, a staff nurse at Derriford Hospital said: "We went to bed on Wednesday at about 10pm. In the early hours of the morning Toby our rabbit did five loud thumps. I sort of half woke up then realised he'd stopped and went back to sleep.

"My partner went downstairs at 7am the next morning and came up and said 'Have you been downstairs during the night?"

"I said 'No, why?' and he said 'Everything's open'."

Kimberley, her partner Martin and three-year-old Olivia live in the terraced house at Admiralty Cottages, Stonehouse.

Kimberley added: "When I went downstairs every single cupboard and drawer were open, there were bits out everywhere, then we started noticing things were missing and we phoned the police. The rabbit was just traumatised in his cage, shaking. He's usually really friendly but he tried to go for the policeman."

Weighing in at 4.5kg, Toby is nearly two feet long and 10 inches tall.

"He's like a little dog, if you whistle him he comes," said Kimberley.

"Because of Christmas and my birthday just gone, I had loads of gift sets and perfumes that they'd laid out across the sofa.

"We think that when the rabbit thumped it scared the burglar off and they left all the stuff they were going to take.

"They managed to take a laptop, an iPad and my handbag with my purse and everything in, but the worse thing was my great granddad's medal."

The medal was a World War One Kings Liverpool Regiment medal belonging to Kimberley's great granddad, Henry Godwin Porter. It is silver and is inscribed with his name and regiment.

Kimberley said: "My gran actually died in 2007, she lived in a council house all her life, hardly had any possessions.

"That was the one thing important thing she had.

"It was kept next to a photo of me and my grandma when I was little which got taken as well."

Kimberly and Martin are due to get married on 30 August at St Mary's Church in Plympton. She added: "They also took a box which had all our wedding invitations and favours in it, as well as paperwork which I was due to give to the church and reception venue.

"I've had to go to the library to get proof that I used to live in Plympton so I can get married at the church – they just don't think about the impact it has to take things like that."

The family have been left shaken up by the incident, but said that it was comforting knowing Toby would warn them of intruders.

Kimberley said: "When I went downstairs for the first time my heart just dropped and it was really quite scary.

"Since then it doesn't feel like home at all, everything the burglar's touched I've bleached.

"I keep shutting the bolts during the day even when I'm here."

"I don't sleep much at night because I'm listening to every noise, but if I've heard creaking I have thought, well the rabbits not thumping so it must be nothing."

PC David Walters, who was one of the first officers on the scene the next day, said: "They had the rabbit in the kitchen and mentioned that he was making a noise during the night.

"But there was nothing to say the burglar was definitely scared off."

DC Nick Bloom added: "We believe the family was burgled between 10.30pm on Wednesday February 6 and 7am on Thursday February 7."

"The police are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward."

If anyone has any information about the incident they should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 quoting log number 95 of February 7.
